Rentals and Instruction
Kayak rentals:
All participants must read and sign the Release and Acknowledgement of Risk Statement. All persons must wear a PFD (Life jacket). Participants must be 18 or accompanied by an adult, minors must have parental or guardian permission. Renters are responcible for lost or stolen equipment. Kayaks are rented to individuals who can demonstrate knowledge of safety, can swim, and have taken some on the beach instruction. Our staff must be comfortable with your skills in the boats and conditions for the day. Our staff reserve the right to refuse rental services to anyone. You can transport the Kayaks on your car or we can deliver/pick up to/from the site at no extra charge. Rentals include PFD, paddle, spray skirt, and safety equipment. Included is a map of Anderson Island and a few points of interest depending on your launch site and trip itinerary. Reservation encouraged.
Our boats are touring Kayaks, which are about 17 feet long, and tend to track better than white water boats. We have an assortment to choose from depending and your skill level and body size, such as: Wilderness System, Current Design, Necky, Perception, British boats, and Tandems (2 people Kayaks).
Single Kayak for 1 day = $35 (weekly rates, 1 Kayak = $105, 2 = $175)
Tandem Kayak for 1 day = $50 (weekly rates, $150) weekly rates include one tour mid week
Instruction: Boat handling and Water rescues:
All participants must be able to swim. Topics to include: selecting a boat that is right for your body and skill level, safety equipment and clothing, and determininig when not to paddle. On water topics would include wet exits and assisted re-entrys, body contact and boat functions, different paddling strokes and boat maneuvering and some boat handling practice games. Paddlers are encouraged to paddle with a friend (safety and for rescues). If someone would like to learn to self rescue (if you expect to paddle by yourself), it can be done at the end of class. On the water instruction generally takes about 3.5 hours. Paddlers are encouraged to practice their skills and take additional instruction as needed. Reservation encouraged.
